Skivvy 9 is the nickname for an Air Force intelligence unit located at Osan Air Base, in the Republic of Korea (ROK). Osan AB is co-located with a local Korean town called Songtan.
The history of Skivvy 9 goes back into years following WW-II and into the Korean War. Intelligence information was needed by the US and during those early years, the roots of the current Skivvy Nine were established.
Because there is SO MUCH history and SO MUCH already published, I don’t want to even attempt to re-do all of that work. Therefore, this page will be organized as a collection of historic documents that tell the story of Skivvy Nine. A separate page containing ALL of the articles I’ve found can also be accessed that has the more formal history.
If you see something that needs to be changed or corrected, or, if you have something new to contribute, please CLICK HERE for an information submission form.
The information below is the result of ongoing information collection however, because much of the history is about how the US collected and may still collect intelligence information, finding accurate historical information is more difficult to locate.
At any rate, please enjoy the information and come back now and then as it is updated, fixed, and made more complete.
MANY THANKS to all the contributors. As I was not even born til ’66, much of the Skivvy Nine history was already written!!
