Ron Hausner’s Memoirs

I have many fond memories of Osan and the guys that I served with (no women at that time in USAFSS, at least in Korea).   I flew on Rosebowl from about June of 1961 through March of 1962 when I transferred to the 6987th RSM in Taiwan.  While Taiwan was a great tour for a Chinese Lingie, my heart remained in Osan.

While my generation was there, we wrote the lyrics to a number of songs peculiar to the Skivvy Nine unit (remember that was the Hootenanny Era).  Did they still sing OomYaYa and Hello Osan Tower when you were there?  Those were authored by our gang.  (Somewhere on my PC I have the original words as best as several of us can recall.)  There were a couple of other songs, but they dealt mostly with Squadron Commanders who were long gone by the time you arrived.
All I find on the web these days are references to the 6903rd (or something like that) organization and Skivvy Nine.  I guess time marches on, but would dearly like to see some references to the 6929th RSM (that’s where Skivvy Nine started).  I will have to see if I can round up some graybeards to give you young pups some background info.  Will keep you posted.
Regards,
Ron Hausner
