Oct 69 – Dec 70 Intermediate Chinese and tech school at NSA
Jan 71 – May 72 Tac op and AMS on C-130 missions flying out of Osan and then Suwon when Osan’s runway was rebuilt.
May 72 – Jun 73 6093SS/DOR COMBAT Dawn ops section
Jun 73 – Feb 77 6949SS and 6944SW Offutt AFB, NE Tac op on Burning Pipe, Combat Sent, and Rivet Joint RC-135 missions
Feb 76 – May 76 TDY to 6903rd to help bring Olympic Game to life.
Feb 77 – Nov 77 6903SS Charlie Flight R/T Controller under 2nd Lt Kevin Willey as Flight Commander. Col Willey retired as PACAF/IN I believe.
Nov 77 – I leave Osan AB and Skivvy Nine for Officer Training School and swap my MSgt stripes for gold bars in Feb 78 as the oldest member of the graduating class. The rest of my 30 yr 3 mos and 17 day (who’s counting) AF career is spent as an 8035/8016 with assignments to Kadena AB, Japan; Hanscom AFB, MA; Shaw AFB, SC; Patch Barracks, Stuttgart-Vaihingen GE (obligatory NSA tour 😉 ), and HQ ESC & HQ AFIC, Kelly AFB, TX. Retired as a major after getting tired of what McPeak was doing to my Air Force.
